Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Investigation Department (NCID) have charged the captain of MV Taimareho 1 with 27 counts of Manslaughter on 13 July 2022.

Supervising Director National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) Superintendent Michael Bole says, “The charge of the captain of MV Taimareho 1 related to the tragic incident that involved death of 27 people washed away by waves from the MV Taemareho due to overloading of the vessel on 3 April 2020.”

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers at kirakira in Makira Ulawa Province continue to roll out the crime prevention strategy to the communities in the Makira Ulawa Province.

The RSIPF community Policing Team in Kirakira conducted a one-day training for Asimanioha Community Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) members on SARA model aimed at getting everyone to understand its importance.

The National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is starting to charge candidates of the National General Election (NGE) in 2019 who had failed to submit their statement of account.

Supervising Director NCID Superintendent Michael Bole Says, “This happened after two candidates were charged early this week.”

The Royal Solomon Police Force (RSIPF) would like to remind reporters to stop exaggerating stories that under investigation.

This is in response to a report published with a title ‘who is telling the truth?’ published on 14 July 2022.

Police would like to advice the reporter to stop responding to this particular story which the case is still under active investigation.

In preparation for the sitting of parliament commencing next week (18 July 2022), the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and components of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) conducted Public Order Management (POM) exercises this week.

Under RSIPF ‘Operation Parliament’, the SIAF contingent will support the RSIPF in maintaining law and order to ensure the continued safety of the Solomon Islands people, institutions and infrastructure.

Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court have granted a remand application to remand a 30-year-old male suspect in relation to an alleged murder incident at Town ground area on 9 July 2022.

It was alleged that the suspect was chased by the deceased and others. The suspect swung his right hand with a small knife in his hand and landed on the deceased’s body.

PRT kill 3.5-metre croc in Makira-Ulawa Province recently
The Police Response Team (PRT) under the National Response Department (NRD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has successfully killed one crocodile at the Wairafa Lake, Santa Ana, Makira-Ulawa Province recently.

Director National Response Department (NRD) Chief Superintendent Francis Ramoni says, “The Owa Rafa Council of Chiefs reported to Kirakira Police following frequent sightings of a crocodile at the Wairafa Lake by communities of Santa Ana Island.”

Six Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) families were visited over the weekend by two groups of China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) officers led by Commissioner Zhang GuangBao and Chief Instructor Yin Wei together with the Chinese embassy staff accompanied by RSIPF Welfare Officers on 8 and 9 July 2022.

Most of these families have children with little health problems, so officers of CPLT visited them and assisted the families with goods and schoolbags. They had a conversation with them and expressed sympathy for their situation.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) are gearing up for the parliament sitting next week.

The RSIPF Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau appeals to all citizens and the public of Solomon Islands to observe the upcoming parliament sitting with respect. The RSIPF and SIAF aim to provide a safe and secure sitting of parliament together with the assistance of the Solomon Islands public. Iumi tugeda for a safer Solomon Islands.

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) would like to clarify an article published in Solomon Star with the title, ‘BSP Auki Vandalized’ that it is miss leading.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent Leslie Kili says, “Let me set the facts right that the issue surrounding the damaging of the glass door of the Bank South Pacific (BSP) in Auki is that the glass door of the BSP was not intentionally damaged as way of criminal action.
