Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers who are part of the Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) accompanied the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers on another visit to the Koa Hill community last week.

SIAF and RSIPF are building stronger engagements with communities in and around Honiara including Koa Hill.

During their recent joint foot patrol to Koa Hill, RSIPF and SIAF officers had meetings with leaders and elders of the community.

Royal Solomon Islands Police (RSIPF) officers in Taro, Choiseul Province, are cracking down on illegal liquor selling in the province.

On Friday 19th August, Taro police served suspension letters to four liquor licensees and four other people who are illegally selling liquor in their premises.

The liquor licensees and illegal sellers who were served with letters breached sections of the Choiseul Province Liquor Authority’s Liquor Act.

Acting Commander of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF)-Australian Federal Police (AFP) Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), Heath Davies, handed over seven new marked police vehicles to the RSIPF.

This is an addition to the six vehicles RAPPP recently delivered to the RSIPF with some more expected.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at Central Police Station re-arrested four suspects in relation to a murder incident at Vara Creek recently.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Police, Chief Superintendent Jimson Robo said the four suspects arrested previously for grievous harm incident after medical authorities pronounced the death of a 53-year-old male person, police have to re-arrest the four suspects and deal with them.

News of a large number of Unexploded Ordnances (UXOs) detected at the Taro airfield in Choiseul Province is part of activities under the Provincial Airfield Upgrades (PAU) project the government of New Zealand, Australia and Solomon Islands are jointly implementing.

The project is currently working to seal the runway of both the Taro airfield and Seghe airfield in the Western Province.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident in the Kukum area, in Honiara, that resulted in the death of a young person on Tuesday 9 August 2022.

The incident, which occurred at the Florence Young conjunction road, involved a young person being attacked on Sunday 7 August 2022.

Police was informed of the incident and on arrival at the scene they only found the young person lying unconscious and surrounded by a crowd.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Interpol office in Honiara will be boosted after the official handing over of I-24/7 Communication System from China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) on 12 August 2022.

The I-24/7 Communication System cost SBD 1.4 million which consists of two virtual private network (VPN) security gateways, five branch VPN security gateways, six network switches, five laptops, three computers, a Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and a cabinet.

The Minister responsible for the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS), Hon. Anthony Veke, has officially opened the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Wagina Police Station in Choiseul Province on Friday 5th, August 2022.

The RSIPF and Australian Federal Police (AFP) partnership program, RSIPF-AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), funded the construction of this Station. RAPPP officially handed over the Station to the RSIPF on March 22nd. The Wagina Police Station project is valued at around SBD$2.6 million.

Two Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers have travelled to Australia to participate in the ‘AFP & RSIPF Exchange 1/2022’ program with the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

Sergeant Arthur Saua and Constable Moses Wawari from the RSIPF’s National Response Department (NRD) will have the opportunity to experience AFP specialist training in a wide range of operational areas in Canberra.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) arrested four adult male suspects for dynamite fishing in North West Guadalcanal at Paru Village on 8 August 2022.

Commissioner of RSIPF Mr Mostyn Mangau said the arrest was done after the EOD team received information from the community and when the team arrived at the location the four suspects just arrived from dynamite fishing.
