Buin Police in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville have arrested 23 suspects from Solomon Islands who crossed the border between Solomon Islands (SI) and Papua New Guinea over the weekend.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu said on 26 March 2022 first five suspects were handed over at the redline by Buin Police to RSIPF border officers.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Munda in the Western Province are investigating the death of a young man who was caught in a reef when diving.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “The sad incident happened on a reef outside of Bebea village in the Nusa Roviana lagoon on 25 March 2022.”

PPC Lenialu says, “The deceased was accompanied by his small brother and his sister to a diving site called ‘Barrier reef’ located 100 metres from Bebea Island.

Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Solomons’ International Assistance Force (SIAF) have been preparing for “Operation Parliament” and are in the final stages of preparations. Teams have been briefed and are equipped to provide a safe and secure sitting of Parliament next week.

Commissioner of RSIPF Mostyn Mangau is reminding members of the public that people involved in activities such as rioting, looting and unlawful assemblies will be held to account by the justice system of the Solomon Islands.

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) continue with its investigation into the recent civil unrest last year 2021.

Acting Director NCID Superintendent Michael Bole says, “Police are continuing its investigation into last year’s civil unrest. Those of you who are involved and yet to be arrested will definitely face justice for your actions.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Solomon Island Assistance Force (SIAF) gear up in riot equipment for the scheduled resumption of Parliament meeting next week.

Commissioner of RSIPF Mr Mostyn Mangau says, “The training happened at the Rove Oval with different scenarios being conducted to test the police capability should there be any planned protest during the meeting.”

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force at the Sexual Assault Unit at the Rove Police Headquarters have arrested and charged a Foreign National for sexual intercourse with a girl under 18-years at an unknown date on month of July 2021.

An initial report says that there were two incidents in the month of July 2021.

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) would like to refute an ongoing media publication on recent consignment of alleged gun shipments into the country donated by Peoples Republic of China for RSIPF Training purposes.

Some questions raised on social media asking who imports the replica weapons? Why was it brought under secrecy? Why does it have to come in a log ship? Why was the shipment not handled by Solomon Ports and why the consignment does not have any manifest?
