RSIPF new recruits join first official parade

The RSIPF new recruits on their first official parade at the Rove Police Headquarters

The 70 new recruits of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) got their first taste of being in an official parade when they joined the weekly Commissioner’s parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara this morning.

The 43 male and 27 female recruits started their 22 weeks intensive training on 11 February 2019.

“I would like to welcome our new recruits as they join us for their first official parade and become members of this family of officers. Congratulations to you all for taking up the offer to be trained to be police officers to maintain law and order this country,” says RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley.

Commissioner Varley adds:

“Consider the opportunity to serve your country as a police officer as a privilege. Be proud of yourself. Stay focused on your training for the next few months and graduate into the RSIPF to serve the people of this country.”

The new recruits were then introduced to members of the RSIPF Executive including provincial police commanders from throughout the country who are currently in Honiara for as part of the preparations for the National General Election (NGE) on 3 April 2019.

During the introductions members of the RSIPF Executive urged the new recruits to be focused on the training and start being disciplined by doing small things such as making their beds in the mornings and making sure their uniforms are ironed and shoes polished.
The new recruits are expected to take a break from their official training program next month to be involved in tasks to assist RSIPF officers who will be providing security during the NGE.
