RSIPF Traffic reminds road users of road safety as NGE approaches
The Traffic Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has reminded all vehicle owners and drivers to check the renewal dates of their vehicle and driver’s licenses before they are caught.
“It is cheaper and easier to pay renewal fees than to end up in Court if you are caught with an expired vehicle and driver’s license,” says Director of Traffic, Superintendent Fred Satu.
He adds: “On 24 February 2019 Traffic officers in Honiara conducted a checkpoint operation where one driver had their vehicle impounded and he now faces charges for driving matters.
Traffic Director Superintendent Satu explains:
“As part of the RSIPF preparations for the National General Election on 3 April, the community will see Traffic officers continuing their focus on road safety to ensure a safe and free election.”
“Traffic officers will also continue to conduct random breath testing operations to make sure our roads are safe as people move around to attend campaign meetings throughout Honiara City. Drivers are also reminded not to overload vehicles during the political campaign period,” says Superintendent Satu.
