RSIPF and SIEC conduct NGE awareness in Ruavatu Parish

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province and staff of the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) held a joint awareness talk on the National General Election at the Ruavatu Parish in North East Guadalcanal on 3 March 2019.
More than one hundred participants attended the awareness program including church leaders, elders, women leaders, youth and children in the Ruavatu Parish. The RSIPF and SIEC team distributed more than one hundred pamphlets during the awareness program.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says,
“The Awareness talk focused on the responsibilities of the RSIPF, responsibilities of registered voters and the public, election offences under the Electoral Act and penalties, and the voting process."
PPC Thugea says, “I wish to thank the SIEC staff and my officers for the great teamwork demonstrated during this engagement and look forward to maintaining this good relationship for future engagements.
PPC Thugea adds: “I also wish to thank members of the community for their good behaviour and respect shown to our team during the visit.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Ruavatu and the surrounding communities, Secretary of the Ruavatu Parish Felix Bosa says, “I wish to acknowledge the RSIPF and SIEC for delivering the awareness program to members of our community. We really appreciate your presence here today and we will continue to work together to ensure the election process is safe, secure and peaceful.”
The awareness talk at the Ruavatu Parish is part of the roll out of the RSIPF NGE awareness program being conducted in Honiara and throughout the provinces as a lead up to the National General Election on 3 April 2019.
