Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province attended to a report of the death of a 60-year-old man from Indonesia at the Papae Logging Camp in the Kolosulu area of North East Guadalcanal on 4 March 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “According to reports reaching the police the man was a chainsaw operator working for the Solomon Islands Global Company. It is alleged the deceased was cutting a tree when he collapsed and died instantly.

“I have sent investigators including officers from Tetere Police Station as well as Forensics officers to the crime scene,” PPC Thugea explains.

PPC Thugea says, “I wish to express our deep sympathy to the family of the deceased and his work colleagues for the untimely death of a family member and a work colleague.”

It is believed that the deceased only arrived in Solomon Islands on 1 March 2019.
