Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) this morning (5 March 2019) arrested a man who had a warrant of arrest for embezzling more than $100,000.00 since 2015 at Ranadi, East Honiara.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “In 2015 the suspect was charged for embezzling more than $100,000.00 by withdrawing money on several occasions from a victim’s account through forgery and deception using mobile banking without the consent of the account owner.

AC Vaevaso explains,

“A warrant of arrest was issued by the Honiara Central Magistrates Court for failing to appear for mention since 2017. A warrant of arrest was issued and hanged over his head during the whole of 2018.”

Mr Vaevaso says, “The suspect is in police custody at the Central Police Station in Honiara awaiting the outcome of a remand application.”

“I would like to thank National intelligence Department (NID) Team, Police in Guadalcanal Province, Police Response Team and the Fraud Team for a job well done,” says AC Vaevaso.

The arrest was made possible through information gathered by the NID team of the RSIPF.
