Church congregation committed to support RSIPF in NGE
The leader of a church congregation in Honiara has expressed his support for the work of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) during the National General Election (NGE) to be held on 3 April 2019.
Pastor Dolaiasi Baeasi of the Zion Nazarene Church in Honiara expressed the support of his congregation at the end of an awareness talk by a team from the RSIPF at the Church on 3 March 2019.
“When acknowledging the awareness talk, Pastor Baeasi thanked the police officers for the talk and stated that his congregation will always support the RSIPF to maintain law and order during the NGE,” says Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department Superintendent Patricia Leta who was part of the team of police officers.
“During the awareness talk we highlighted the responsibilities of RSIPF, responsibilities of registered voters and the public and election offences under the Electoral Act and the penalties,” Superintendent Leta explains.
She adds: “I appeal to members of the congregation to support police in providing information about criminal activities or anti-social behaviour during the NGE period.”
“I want to thank the Pastor for accepting the request to conduct awareness talks to his congregation and all the churches throughout the country for their ongoing support in praying for a peaceful election,” says Superintendent Leta.
