RSIPF blesses seven new vehicles

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has blessed seven new vehicles during the weekly Commissioner’s Parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara on 7 March 2019.

This is the last of the 13 vehicles which the RSIPF has purchased from its 2018 budget. Six of the vehicles were blessed early last month.

Speaking at the parade RSIPF Commissioner Mathew Varley says, “Today’s parade is important because we are going to witness the blessing of the seven new police vehicles. These vehicles are part of our plan; part of our effort to make sure that we are as ready as we can be for the National General Election on 3 April 2019.”

“It was about April last year that we did our work on the budget to make sure that we purchase these 13 new vehicles.”

Commissioner Varley explains: “The total value of these seven vehicles including the six previously purchased D-max vehicles is 4.5 million.”

He adds: “These vehicles will be allocated to our frontline departments to show our support to the frontline officers. The RSIPF is absolutely committed to make sure that we do everything we can to have the right equipment and the training and the right people on the job.”
