RSIPF officers receive training from SIEC

RSIPF officers in Guadalcanal Province and SIEC officers at the end of the NGE training

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province received training from the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission (SIEC) on 6 March 2019 in preparation for the National General Election (NGE) at the Henderson Police Station.

Mrs Philotea Ruaeho, Communication Manager of SIEC conducted the training. Topics covered include Procedures during polling day, the Election Process and Electoral Act and offences and penalties. About 1,000 pamphlets were supplied to Police in Guadalcanal Province and will be used during the upcoming awareness program.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “I believe the knowledge gained will prepare my officers to go out to villages for the community awareness program as we prepare for NGE on 3 April 2019.”

PPC Thugea says, “I wish to thank SIEC for accepting our invitation to come and provide the training for Police in Guadalcanal Province. We look forward to continue working together with our partners.”

More than 20 officers from Henderson and Tetere Police stations attended the SIEC training.

SIEC Communication Manager, Mrs Ruaeho thanked the Police in Guadalcanal Province for the invitation and SIEC was happy to deliver the training because the success of the NGE is shared responsibility between the various stakeholders.

The training is in preparation for Police officers in Guadalcanal Province to roll out the RSIPF NGE awareness program being conducted in Honiara and throughout the provinces as a lead up to the National General Election on 3 April 2019.
