Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal Province conducted an awareness talk on the National General Election at the Kobito Market in the Aola area of East Central Guadalcanal on 9 March 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Evelyn Thugea says, “During the awareness talk we highlighted the responsibilities of the RSIPF, responsibilities of registered voters and the public, election offences under the Electoral Act and penalties.

PPC Thugea says, “I wish to commend the communities for the good behaviour and respect shown to our team during the visit.”

Also speaking during the awareness program, Sergeant Mary Ake urged communities to support police with information about any criminal activities and anti-social behaviour during the NGE period.

Speaking on behalf of the people of Kobito and the surrounding communities, Mr Charles Sikua says,

“I wish to acknowledge the RSIPF for delivering the awareness program to members of our community. We will continue to work together to ensure the election process is safe, secure and peaceful in our communities.”

More than one hundred NGE pamphlets were distributed during the awareness program at the Kobito Market.

The awareness talk at Kobito is part of the roll out of the RSIPF NGE awareness program being conducted in Honiara and throughout the provinces as a lead up to the National General Election on 3 April 2019.
