Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) have raided a Bottle shop at Ngamubulou in the Reef Islands, Temotu Province in the early hours of 2 April 2019 and confiscated 117 cartons of beer.
Officers from Lata Police Station and those deployed from Honiara for National General Election duties conducted the raid after members of the community alleged the Bottle shop owner was selling beer without a valid license.
Provincial Police Commander, Temotu Province Superintendent James Toaki says, “Currently Police at Manuopo is progressing the investigation and soon or later the suspect will be arrested and charged.”
The seized cartons of beer have now been transported to the Lata Police on board the RSIPF patrol boat Auki as exhibits and stored at Lata Police Station whilst awaiting court proceeding.
PPC Toaki adds:
“With the liquor ban still in effect, I would like to urge our people in the communities to report any illegal liquor activities to the police. This includes beer products, kwaso or homebrew. We would like to see that this NGE is crime free and peaceful.”
“I would like to warn people in Temotu Province that selling beer without a valid beer license is an offence against the Liquor Act. Police will not tolerate any person breaching the Act. Any person found or being reported as selling beer without a licence or distilled liquor without a permit will be dealt with according to law,” PPC emphasises.
“I urge you to work together with the Police and report to us any incidence of criminal activity for processing before a Court of Law.”
“To the community members in Temotu province I would like to appeal to you to join hands together with the Police and fight crime to make our Province a safe, secure and peaceful place to live and enjoy,” says PPC Toaki.
