Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested three men following a raid for brewing kwaso at Namoruka, West Honiara on 6 April 2019.

Items collected during the raid included 1x44 galloon bin, 6x 7 galloon black buckets, 13x 5 galloon white jerry cans, and 2 x 4 galloon jerry cans used in the kwaso fermenting process.

Three suspects were arrested and are currently in police custody for further dealings and items seized are kept as exhibits for court.

Commander Police Operation Centre, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Anika Nausi says, “I encourage members of the public to come forward to police with information regarding illegal brewing of kwaso whether in Honiara or in the provinces.”

“I would like to thank my front line officers for the swift response to this report. Whilst operation NGE is currently underway you are also vigilant over other unlawful activities happening within our communities.”

“Kwaso is one of the main drivers of crime. Therefore I urge members of the public or communities to report to police any activities regarding brewing, selling or consumption of kwaso.”

ACP Nausi says, “Let us all work together to keep our communities safe and peaceful.”
