Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force farewelled one of their long serving Police Constables in a moving funeral service at the Wesley United Church in Honiara on 9 April 2019.

Late Police Constable Susie Seuika was called to rest in the early hours of 6 April 2019 after a short illness.

Her passing has struck Police officers across the country, especially her colleagues at the Police Band, her RSIPF Rugby team mates ‘The Royals’ and of course the RSIPF WAN officers.

Speaking at the funeral service RSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley says, “This afternoon, as the Commissioner of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force I am humbled to stand here on behalf of all Ranks and files of the RSIPF throughout Solomon Islands to say a few words in honour of this great officer.”
Late Police Constable Susie was also one of the instrumental Police woman in terms of sport. She has mentored women RSIPF through sport especially in Rugby.

“The passing away of late Police Constable Susie Seuika denied her long and satisfying career. Let me assure the relatives and friends this afternoon that the RSIPF salutes her and will continue to remember the legacy she has left behind, her positive contributions to the RSIPF to provide leadership in the Police Band where she had served and spent most of her time with the police force.”

“We valued so much the contributions of the late Constable Susie to the RSIPF and the people of Solomon Islands. The length of time she served in the RSIPF was highly commendable and honoured by all ranks and file. She unselfishly gave herself to serving the people of this country by enlisting into the RSIPF to protect life and property and to maintain law and order.”

“It is sad to note that her untimely passing away caught her quickly and took her life. Her passing away is not only a loss to you the husband and children, relatives and communities of Molevanga Village in Choiseul Province and Ngongona Village on Bellona in the Renbel Province, but also a great loss to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.”

“In closing, let me thank the family, relatives and friends and the communities of Molevanga and Ngongona for allowing her to serve in the RSIPF. The late Constable Susie had served in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) for more than 22 years,” says Commissioner Varley.

“I salute her for her service. She will be long remembered by members of the RSIPF who served with her.

“Police Constable Susie, today the RSIPF salute you not only as a Senior Constable but also as a dedicated and courageous officer in the Force. You will always be an inspiration to other women within the Force, and as a beacon to break barriers in the male dominated RSIPF. Your exceptional team work is one that will always be treasured in the hearts of your team members and work colleagues.”

“So long and farewell colleague.”

The body of the late Susie Seuika was transported to her home village in Choiseul Province where she will be finally laid to rest.
