Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Western Province are investigating the alleged attack on two men on Vella La Vella Island, on the evening of 17 April 2019, following an argument with their brother.

The Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Western Province Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “We received a report about two brothers allegedly attacked by another of their brother at Karaka Village on Vella La Vella Island, in Western Province in the evening of 17 April 2019.”

“From the information we have been able to gather so far, the three brothers were allegedly arguing about a losing candidate in the National General Election in one of the constituencies in Vella La Vella. One of the brothers allegedly got angry and attacked his two other brothers,” says PPC Lenialu.

He adds: “I would like to emphasise here that that family relationships are more important than whoever wins or loses an election. I urge people in Western Province not to involve in heated arguments but to discuss such issues in a peaceful manner.”

Police are yet to make any arrests following the incident as the investigation continues.
