RSIPF arrest man for swearing at couple in Western Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Munda Police Station in Western Province arrested a 40-year-old male person who allegedly swore at a couple at Londumaho Village, Munda on 17 April 2019.
Officer Commanding Munda Police Station Sergeant Rachel Lilo says, “My officers arrested the man after we received a report that alleged the man swore at a couple at Londumaho Village on 17 April 2019.”
Sergeant Lilo adds: “It is further alleged the man disagreed with the couple, as the wife voted for a different candidate in the National General Election (NGE) on 3 April 2019 for South Vella La Vella constituency.”
“I would like to remind the good people in Munda and the rest of Western Province to accept the outcome of the election and move on with normal life without resolving to violence,” says Sergeant Lilo.
“Let us show respect for one another which has always been a part of our traditional culture.”
The man has been charged with two counts being for Threatening, Abusive or Insulting Behaviour pursuant to section 178 (n) of the Penal Code, and Consuming Liquor in a Public Place contrary to section 65 of the Liquor Act. The accused has been released on bail to appear in Court at a later date.
