The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai is happy so far with the security situation in that Province as police starts an Easter Operation to ensure law and order is maintained during the long weekend.

PPC Sitai says, “My officers are continuing with the Police Easter Festivity Operation this week, and from assessment collected so far, there has been no major incidents, which is a good sign.”

He adds: The good sign is that it has been observed that Kirakira Township and surrounding communities have been peaceful and quite since the beginning of last week.

“As we celebrate Easter, I appeal to our people in Makira Ulawa Province to join other Christians around the world to commemorate the resurrection of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ with prayers and peaceful celebration with your families, and stay safe from any danger,” says PPC Sitai.

He emphasises, “While many will respect the occasion, others too will capitalise on the event to engage themselves in other activities that may lead to anti-social behaviour resulting in crimes being committed in our communities. This is why your police in Makira Ulawa Province is mounting this operation during this Easter weekend.”

“To my dedicated leaders in various communities, church, other institutions in Makira Ulawa Province, let us work together to ensure our communities are safe from crime,” says Superintendent Sitai.

The PPC appeals to good people of Makira Ulawa Province to celebrate by offering prayers of thanksgiving and teaching our children about the true meaning of Easter.
