RSIPF arrest man in possession of drug and alcohol East of Honiara
Police have arrested an adult male person in the Henderson area East of Honiara for allegedly being in possession of alleged drugs and alcohol for sale on19 April 2019.
Guadalcanal Provincial Police Operational (Ops) Manager, Superintendent Nixson Manetoga says, “The man was seen by police operational officers who were on patrol during night around 2:00 Am of 19 April 2019, walking alongside the Henderson main road with a suspicious bag.”
He explains: “My officers decided to stop and search the man during which they found a bag containing alleged kwaso stored in containers and alleged marijuana in his possession.”
“The marijuana is a dangerous drug and public are reminded to report sightings of the dangerous drug marijuana to police, as it is against the law to possess, sell, import and use the drug. We urge members of the public to work together with the police to get rid of the drug from our communities for a safer community,” Superintendent Manetoga emphasises.
He adds: “It has been proven time and time again that such illicit substances as marijuana are the main drivers of crime within our communities. Let us get rid of such substances from our communities in order for us to have a crime free nation.”
Superintendent Manetoga says that the sale of the kwaso in our streets is becoming alarming. This is because the substance is cheap to buy, fast to get drunk with but it can easily trigger problems anti-social behaviour and cause health problems in our communities. I appeal to the public to assist your police and our medical officers, to report anyone who is brewing, involved in the sale and distribution of the illegal substances to your nearest police station.
“Let us work to create a safer and healthier community for you and me, for our children and our neighbours,” says Superintendent Manetoga.
