The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers in Malaita Province arrested an adult male for allegedly raping a female child at Waisisi Village in West Are’Are on 22 April 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “Yesterday (22 April) an adult was arrested by my officers after receiving a report about a man allegedly raping a 6-year-old child at Waisisi Village.”

“The man is being interviewed by my investigators and he is expected to appear before the Court for a remand application today on a charge of rape,” says PPC Sisimia.

“I condemn this alleged act in the strongest term as it will only affect the child for the rest of her life and that of her parents.”

“I appeal to anyone who might have witnessed the incident at Waisisi Village to come forward to police at Auki and assist with any information they may have. I further appeal to parents and relatives of the victim to refrain from any retaliation, but to assist police with any information,” says Superintendent Sisimia.

The victim was assisted to Kilu’ufi Hospital for medical attention after the alleged incident.

Police at Auki can be contacted on phones 40132 or 40224.
