RSIPF commends members of the public
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have commended members of the public for their good behaviour shown in front of the High Court in Honiara today for the mention of the court case between Hon Matthew Wale and Hon Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
There was heavy Police presence in the High Court area as well as other parts of Honiara City.
Assistant Commissioner Operations, Mostyn Mangau says, “I would like to thank members of the public who gathered around the High Court area for their good behaviour shown throughout the mention/direction hearing today. We believe this indicates an understanding of the process involved in this case up to now and other matters to be addressed. This understanding is better than spreading false rumours and stories around that would potentially cause public fear.”
“I would like to thank those members of the public for their support towards your Police. Your Police is working very hard in ensuring our streets are safe and that everybody goes around doing their business in a peaceful and safe environment and that your safety is our priority.”
“I also would like to thank my officers in maintaining their high visibility presence in and around that area and other parts of the City.”
“The RSIPF will continue to monitor the situation as part of our duty to ensure that people live peacefully.”
He adds: “I would like to call on the members of the public for your continuous support towards the RSIPF. The RSIPF is your Police. Let us continue to work together for the betterment of this country.”
“I want to call on all members of the public, businesses and schools in and around Honiara to continue with business as usual as your Police is continuing to provide high visibility patrols in the City centre as well as other areas in the City to prevent any criminal elements trying to capitalise on the situation,” says ACP Mangau.
The High Court will resume to hear the civil case between Hon. Wale and Hon. Sogavare on 17 May 2019 and members of the community are urged to allow the Court to continue with the process peacefully.
