Man arrested for illegal sell of beer

Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested and charged a 38 year-old Male for allegedly selling beer at the booth of his vehicle in Honiara on 4 May 2019.

The accused was using his car to sell his beer illegally. Operational duty officers were patrolling Honiara City when they came across this vehicle which was parked at Fox Street, Hapai area. Upon checking the vehicle Police Officers confiscated 6 cartons of Canoe Lager beer.

Officers apprehended the accused and escort him to Central Police Station where he was formally arrested and placed in cell.

Assistant Commissioner Simpson Pogeava says, “I would like to remind members of the public that illegal sale of liquor is an offence punishable by law. There are others out there who are also committing this offence and I kindly call on members of our communities in Honiara and throughout the provinces to report this kind of incidences to your police.”

“Let us continue to work together to curb this kind of unlawful behaviours.”

The accused was charged for Liquor for sale without licence contrary to section 59 (2) of the Liquor Act and bailed to appear in court on a later date.
