Police at Malu’u, North Malaita, Malaita Province have welcomed the assurance of chiefs in the Lau Baelelea constituency for the support towards curbing the current rise in kwaso and marijuana incidences in the area.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC), Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “Few weeks ago Police in Malu’u raided a kwaso distillation in the Malu’u area with the help of the chiefs and elders there. Seeing the successful outcome, the chiefs saw it as a fine example that they wish to adopt.”

PPC Sisimia says, “Illegal drugs such as marijuana and kwaso have affected the livelihood of the people in our communities. These kind of drugs are also contributing to the rise of antisocial behaviour affecting our women and children.”

“I would like to encourage chiefs, community leaders, elders, women and youth to continue to work with the police. We will also support the chiefs and continue to work with your communities. I appeal for the continuous partnership between the police and community at this time,” Superintendent Sisimia emphasises.

He adds: “I strongly appeal to all who are involved in criminal activities within the Lau Baelelea constituency to rethink their actions as the police will soon catch up with you. To all the good citizens in the Lau Baelelea constituency, please continue to support the police in the mission to decrease criminal activities in your communities.”
