Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) are investigating the suspicious death of a 50-year-male whose body was found on 17 May 2019 along the bush road leading up to Haukona Village, in West Are'are in Malaita Province.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Mr Ian Vaevaso says, “On late Friday 17 May 2019, my Office was briefed about the incident. A team of investigators was send to the area during the weekend to carryout investigation."

AC Vaevaso explains: “Based on an external examination done by a medical nurse in the area it is alleged the injury on the deceased's body is suspicious to be related to the use of a weapon.”

"Unfortunately no post mortem was carried out as relatives have already buried the body," says AC Vaevaso.

"I appeal to anyone in the area where the incident happened who may have any information that may assist police to come forward."

"My condolence to the relatives of the man as they mourn their loss," says Mr Vaevaso.

"I appeal to relatives of the deceased man to remain calm and not to take the law into their own hands but assist the police with the investigation into this sad incident," He emphasises.
