Pathologist result on remains found at Mataniko River, Vara Creek

The Office of the Commissioner of police have received the pathology results from the National Referral Hospital Pathologist yesterday in relation to what many suspected were human remains found along the Mataniko River at Vara Creek in Central Honiara.

The report from the Pathologist confirms that the remains are from an animal not human remains as suggested in the media recently.

The report will form part of the police investigation mentioned in the media recently.

According to Pathologist, “the body parts are not of human origin. The physical appearance and radiological examinations confirm that they belong to a non-human creature”.

The report identifies that an animal present in Solomon Islands that has 5 digits on it small fore limbs and 4 digits on its large hind limbs is a crocodile.

Based on the Pathologists report the police want to inform the public that police are therefore ruling out that the remains were human remains.
