Police investigate suspicious death of male person in Honiara
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara is investigating the suspicious death of a 26-year-old male person who died after he sustained body injuries.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Crime and Intelligence Ian Vaevaso says, “It is alleged that at about 9am on Sunday 2 June 2019 the deceased was dropped off at his Burns Creek residence east of Honiara by a taxi. Three other male persons with the taxi driver were also inside the taxi. One of the male persons inside the taxi assisted the deceased out from the taxi.”
AC Vaevaso says, “The deceased then walked slowly to his house. Since he was very weak and had injuries to his body, his relatives transported him to the National Referral Hospital for treatment. He was admitted but died yesterday morning 4 June 2019.”
“Officers of the Serious Crime Squad and Forensics Team started enquiries soon after receiving the report. Police are now questioning three male persons in relation to the incident. A post-mortem will be done to ascertain the cause of the death.”
“I appeal to the general public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of those who involved in this tragic incident. This is a very serious crime under our laws,” says AC Vaevaso.
“My sincere condolences and sympathy to the family and relatives of the deceased person at this tragic loss of one of your members. I appeal to you not to take the law into your own hands but assist police with whatever information you may have.” AC Vaevaso emphasises.
