RSIPF appreciates good work of police advisor

Commissioner Varley presents a certificate of appreciation and a plague to Advisor Folau

The work of a long time police advisor with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, (RSIPF) has been acknowledged during the weekly Commissioner’s parade at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today (8 August 2019).

RSSIPF Commissioner Matthew Varley presented a certificate of appreciation to Advisor Darren Folau of the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) whose mission ends this week.

Commissioner Varley explains: “The certificate of appreciation and RSIPF plague is to show the RSIPF’s recognition of the good work that Advisor Folau has contributed to the development of the RSIPF over the years that he has served in the country since 2002. Folau first came to Solomon Islands as a New Zealand Police officer in 2002 and continued under the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI). After retiring from the New Zealand police, Folau was contracted under the Solomon Islands Police Development Program (SIPDP) – Australian Federal Police from 2018-2019.”

“Folau was also part of the team that successfully negotiated the arrest of life time prisoner Harold Keke in 2003 by RAMSI. He served as a gym trainer-promoting health fitness for the RSIPF from 2018 to this year 2019,” adds Commissioner Varley.

Commissioner says, “On behalf of the ranks and files of the RSIPF and communities of this country that Folau served, I take this opportunity to thank him for the service to Solomon Islands and RSIPF. I wish him all the best in his future career.”

Advisor Folau told RSIPF officers who attended the weekly parade that he was proud to have served and contributed through his advisory role to the RSIPF community policing and more recently the wellbeing of the officers when working in the RSIPF gym.
