“I will always strive to serve this country” - PC Inaoyo
Shandra Berol Inaoyo, 21 years old from Santa Cruz in Temotu Province is one of the female police recruits who graduated from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) with a special award on 16 August 2019 at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara.
She was awarded the RSIPF Academy Fitness Award.
The Fitness award is given to recruits who excel in the RSIPF fitness tests. It includes physical fitness, outstanding participation in physical trainings and sports, hardworking, courageous and disciplined.
According to Shandra, she was humbled but proud to receive the award. Her parents, who travelled all the way from Santa Cruz to be at the graduation and watch their eldest child out of three receive one of the special awards in the first Recruit Class of 2019, were even prouder.
“I am humbled and at the same time feel very proud to receive this award. To become fit and be able to receive this award is not an easy task. It is all about passion and dedication,” says the quite looking recruit now police constable after taking her oath at the graduation ceremony.
“Coming through the 22 weeks of intensive physical training was very challenging. It was the thing that kept me going. It made me build my strength, courage and discipline. It taught me to never give up despite the challenges.”
Police Constable, Shandra, who will be on probation for the next two years adds: “I know that it will be challenging for me to go out there as well. But I know that I will always strive to serve my people and this country. Being physically fit will enable me to do my job effectively.”
“I am glad that my parents came over from home to join me today especially to witness my graduation and see me receive this award. This is a very special occasion for them as well,” says Shandra as she stood in the middle of her parents for a photograph on this very historical occasion for the whole family.
