RSIPF closes night club in Honiara
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has closed down the KTV night club in East Honiara as it continues to check on the licenses of pubs and night clubs as well as underage youth entering the premises in the capital city.
“During the operation last weekend my officers visited the KTV night club in the Kukum area of East Honiara and found that the owner of the night club did not have a valid license to operate the premises. We have ordered the owner to close the night club and have warned him that he will be arrested and charged if he disobeys the order. Police will continue to monitor the night club to ensure the owner has a valid license,” says Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City, Superintendent Stanley Riolo.
“I would like to thank most of the licensed pubs and night clubs for their cooperation with my officers during the Operation so far.”
“I urge the owners to display their licenses and clearly display signs warning that anyone under the age of 21 years will not be allowed to enter the premises. Security officers manning the clubs and night clubs should check the patrons and demand an identification if they are not too sure,” Superintendent Riolo emphasises.
He adds: “I call on underage youth in Honiara not to make any attempt to enter pubs and nightclubs as police will continue to visit the licensed premises in coming weeks. Parents are also encouraged to talk with your children to stay away from the pubs and night clubs.”
Police have so far warned youth as young as 15 years old found at nightclubs in Honiara City. Provincial Police Commanders (PPCs) in the provincial capitals will also be checking on pubs and nightclubs operating within their jurisdictions to ensure they have valid licenses and any one under the age of 21 is not allowed to enter the premises.
