Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have arrested and charged thirteen people in relation to alleged incidents relating to Father’s Day celebrations in Western Province over the weekend.

The incidents happened in Gizo and Munda.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Western Province, Chief Superintendent Mathias Lenialu says, “Seven suspects were arrested and charged for Consuming Liquor in a Public Place while the other two were charged for going armed in a public place and common assault.”

PPC Lenialu says, “The other four suspects were arrested and charged for consuming liquor in a moving vehicle. All the 13 suspects arrested over the weekend will appear in Court on either 16 September or 18 November 2019.”

“I would like thank the communities within the Western Province for working together with police and more particularly for those who celebrated Father’s Day peacefully with families at home.

“Vehicles drivers are urged to respect other road users. Consuming liquor while driving is against the law of this country. Drinking in a public place is also an offence. I like to thank the majority of the public for their good behavior as well as for assisting police,” says Chief Superintendent Lenialu.
