Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki, Malaita Province are investigating an allegation which appeared in the media accusing officers of the misuse of a police vehicle in the provincial capital.

Operation Manager, RSIPF Malaita Province, Inspector Charles Edward Koto says, “We were made aware of the allegation when the Solomon Star newspaper carried the story on 2 September 2019.

Inspector Koto explains, “It was a serious allegation against my officers so I have directed the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) here in Auki and the discipline officer to open an enquiry file and conduct a full investigation into the alleged incident.”

“At this stage it is still an allegation but let me make it clear that the RSIPF does not tolerate any ill-disciplined officer. This is a serious allegation that needs to be investigated and the officer or officers involved should face disciplinary action if the allegation is true. I call on the general public in Auki who witnessed this alleged incident to come forward with any evidence to assist our investigation into this matter,” says Inspector Koto.
