Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki, Malaita Province are investigating a traffic accident occurred at Dala in North Malaita on 12 September 2019.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “In the morning of 12 September 2019 a three ton truck loaded with passengers travelling to Auki was involved in a traffic accident on the Dala South Hill road.”

“The vehicle was travelling in a southerly direction to Auki whilst a bicycle loaded with two passengers was travelling northerly direction. The bicycle was travelling so fast down the hill on the left lane against the upcoming traffic.”

Superintendent Sisimia explains: “Police from Malu’u in North Malaita who were on their way to Auki met up with the accident and assisted the victims to Kilu’ufi Hospital.”

“Police helped to establish dialogue between the victims’ family members and established a peaceful settlement between the two parties through a compensation payment. I call on both parties to refrain from doing anything that will break the law but allow the police to deal with the matter,” says PPC Sisimia.
