Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Tulagi, Central Province have arrested three suspects during an operation which started during the weekend at the provincial capital.

Two of the suspects were arrested for allegedly consuming liquor in a public place and the other one was arrested for alleged domestic violence. All suspects charged will appear during the Tulagi Court circuit this week.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “Police in Tulagi mounted the police operation following concern by provincial leaders about the level of criminal activities in the Township and surrounding villages during the past two months.”

“I would like to remind all communities in and around Tulagi to remain calm. This operation will be continuing for next month, as part of the preparations for the Provincial tourism Ministers’ meeting and the Mini Cultural Show which will be held in Tulagi next month.”

PPC Maelasi adds: I want to urge all community and church leaders as well as chiefs to take responsibility to support the Province and the police in maintaining law and order in our communities. Let us respect one another. Police will not tolerate any one who disturbs the peace in the communities.”
