Five accused convicted during Court Circuit in Central Province

Five accused persons have been convicted during a Court Circuit between 25 and 29 September 2019 in Central Province for different crimes committed.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Central Province, Inspector Hugo Maelasi says, “During the court circuit three of the accused were convicted while eight of them were remanded at Rove Correctional Services Solomon Islands (CSSI) waiting for sentencing on 4 October 2019 at the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court.”

“During the Tulagi court circuit, the presiding Magistrate convicted one accused to 12 months in imprisonment for house break-in and two convicted for domestic violence with one sentenced to five months and another convicted to four months imprisonment.”

PPC Maelasi adds: “Out of the eight accused on remand at CSSI, three are accused of domestic violence and one for going armed in a public place. Another accused, a female, is accused of indecent assault, another accused of drink and disorderly and two accused of domestic violence.”

“From this court results, I want to advice my good people in Central Province to respect one another and stay out from trouble. Our law is there to safe guard our communities as law abiding citizen,” says Inspector Maelasi.
