New police post open in Isabel Province

RSIPF Officers ready for the flag raising ceremony

More than 7,000 people in the Gao and Bugotu District of Isabel Province will benefit from a new police post which has been opened at Tatamba today (10 October 2019).

The official opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Anthony Veke, the Member of Parliament for Gao and Bugotu Constituency Hon. Samuel Manetoali; Isabel Provincial Premier Hon. Leslie Kikolo, the Supervising Commissioner of Police Juanita Matanga, provincial workers, Tatamba leaders and members of the community.

Minister of Police, Hon. Veke, M.P Hon. Manetoali and Provincial Premier Kikolo officially opened the police post by cutting the ribbon witnessed by a large crowd including school children.

After the cutting of the ribbon the key to the Police Post was handed over by the RSIPF Director of Infrastructure Superintendent Romano Muaki to Minister Veke, who handed it over to Premier Kikolo. Hon Kikolo then handed the keys of the police post to RSIPF Supervising Commissioner, Matanga. She then handed the keys to the Provincial Police Commander Isabel Province, Superintendent Leonard Tahinimana.

Supervising Commissioner of Police Ms Juanita Matanga says, “On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, I would like to thank all of you responsible for this project for bringing policing down to this area.”

“Through such partnership we can make a difference in our communities, constituencies and the province as a whole. It is good that we work to develop our country because the development of our country rests in our hands as citizens of this country. We do not expect anyone to come and make a difference in our communities.”

“As you can see this ceremony comprises of different Government Ministries, Member of Parliament for Goa-Bugotu and the Isabel Provincial executive. They are the ones who work together to set up this police post. This same model should be used by other constituencies to work together with provincial governments and other relevant ministries so that services go down to our people,” says Supervising Commissioner Matanga.

She urged the PPC Isabel Province to make sure his officers are deployed to the new police post at Tatamba and serve the people professionally and with integrity.

The opening of the Tatamba Police Post was celebrated with feasting.
