The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Honiara and Guadalcanal Province have commended the behaviour of the members of the public in Honiara for their good behaviour and understanding during the visit of the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Marise Payne from 30 – 31 October 2019.

The RSIPF operation during the visit of Hon. Payne included security coverage to venues she visited, high visibility patrol controls on the roads, traffic control and escorts for the Foreign Affairs Minister and her delegation.

The RSIPF usually mounts this normal operation for any visiting foreign dignitary.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) for National Capital and Crime Prevention, Simpson Pogeava says, “I would like to thank the general public in Honiara and east of Honiara from Henderson to Lungga for their understanding in terms of the traffic holdups caused by police vehicles involved in the escorts of the dignitary.”

“I am proud of the good behaviour so far shown by the public and I encourage them to continue to show that good behaviour in similar future visits to promote to the world that Solomon Islands people are a friendly people,” says AC Pogeava.

He also thank officers from the Kukum Traffic Centre, Close Personal Protection(CPP) Unit Honiara City and others who were on standby for making sure that the visit, though brief, was a successful one.

The Australian Foreign Affairs Minister and delegation left Honiara this morning.
