RSIPF in Makira Ulawa Province thank public for good behaviour during recent election
The Provincial Police Commander (PPC) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Makira Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai has thanked members of the public in that Province for the good behaviour shown during the Provincial Assembly Election for the twenty wards and the East Makira Constituency Bye-Election.
PPC Sitai says, “The polling on 11 December and the counting of ballots from 12 December 2019 conducted at the provincial capital Kirakira has been peaceful.”
“The counting process saw all the ballot boxes from all 20 wards in the province as well as the ballot boxes in the East Makira Bye-election successfully counted ending in the announcement of the 20 new Members of the Makira Ulawa Provincial Assembly as well as the new Member of Parliament for the East Makira Constituency.”
“The voters in the East Makira constituency have elected Mrs Lily Maefai, the wife of the late MP for Constituency as their new MP. The counting of the votes started on12 December and was completed in the early hours of 14 December 2019.”
“I wish to thank the candidates, supporters and general public for their understanding in making the election and the counting process a successful one,” says PPC Sitai.
