The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in the Western Province appeals to people living in that Province to have a crime-free and safe Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020 celebrations.

“I want to remind the good loving people of Western Province from Gatokae to the Shortland Islands to have a crime-free and safe New Year celebration 2020. My message to you all is always do the right thing and more importantly respect each other,” says Provincial Police Commander, Western Province, Chief Superintendent, Mathias Lenialu.

“We must celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. It is a time for families to get together and celebrate their achievements and reflect on what has happened as well as welcome another year.”

“I urge my good people in Western Province not to abuse the use of alcohol during your celebrations. If you have to include alcohol in your celebrations, consume it responsibly and don’t drink and drive. This also for applies for owners and skippers of our small boats as you travel from island to island,” says PPC Lenialu.

He adds: “Police in Western Province will be mounting an operation during Christmas and the New Year’s Eve and will apply zero tolerance to anyone who chooses to take the law in to their own hands. I am calling on my good people from Gatokae to the Shortland Islands to celebrate peacefully within the law with your families.”

“I want to thank you all and salute you for working together with the police by supporting and driving the Crime Prevention Strategy in our communities during this year,” says PPC Lenialu.
