RSIPF arrests 53-year-old man following death of his daughter in Guadalcanal Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Station have arrested a 53-year-old man in relation to the death of his 10 years old daughter at Midi Village, Aruligo, West Guadalcanal on 27 December 2019.
Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “We attended to the incident after receiving a report from a village elder at Aruligo who said that they found the dead body of a 10-year-old girl inside her house at Midi Village on the Aruligo sea side.”
“The deceased was a person with a disability. It is alleged that sometimes last week the father of the deceased threatened his family and they escaped out from their house with the late child and lived with other relatives in the Aruligo area.”
“It is alleged the father went over to his family and threatened his wife then took the late child back to their residence at Midi Village. The child was found dead inside the house.”
PPC Manetoga explains: "It is alleged that the father of the deceased is a mentally ill person with an aggressive behaviour.”
The body of the deceased is now at the morgue at the National Referral Hospital for a post mortem as investigations into the dad incident continues.
“I appeal to the relatives of both families to refrain from taking the law into your own hands but allow police to deal with the matter.”
“I would like to convey my sincere condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased at their great loss,” says PPC Manetoga.
Police call on people living in the Aruligo area who may have any information on the incident to contact the Henderson Police Station on phones 36200 or 36201 immediately.
