RSIPF arrests three suspects for alleged illegal brewing of kwaso in Malaita Province

Officers in West Fataleka during the raid

Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have arrested three suspects for the alleged brewing of kwaso at West Fataleka on 27 December 2019.

Officer In-Charge (OIC) at the Auki Police Station, Inspector Tex Tafoa says, "Police at Auki and the Provincial Response Unit (PRU) worked together with police at Malu'u in North Malaita to conduct kwaso raids at eight different locations in the West Fataleka region on 27 December.”

"The three suspects have been formally arrested and placed in police custody for restriction on making liquor while we are working on the arrest of another two suspects soon.”

Inspector Tafoa says, “All communities in the West Fataleka region praise police for the successful raids. Police also conducted awareness talks to bystanders who gathered to witness what happened during the raids.”

“I would like to thank community leaders for their cooperation during the kwaso raids and call on them to keep updating the Police of any anti-social activities occurring in their communities,” says OIC Tafoa.

RSIPF thanks the Malaita Provincial government for making available a vehicle to transport the confiscated kwaso brewing equipment to Auki.
