Police arrest two suspects for attacking 60-year-old man in Guadalcanal Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Henderson Police Skķtation have arrested two suspects for attacking a 60-year-old man at Titinge Village in North West Guadalcanal on 27 December 2019.
Acting Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Superintendent Nixon Manetoga says, “My officers attended to the report of an alleged assault causing bodily harm at Titinge Village and arrested two suspects.”
"It will be alleged in Court that the two suspects attacked a 60-year-old man with a stone which hit his forehead causing serious injuries. The victim is in a stable condition.”
“Police have arrested the two suspects, brought them to the police station and placed them in custody for further dealings."
Superintendent Manetoga says, “The motive behind this attack is reportedly related to an issue between the son of the victim sometimes in April 2019 which resulted in the damage to some properties of the suspects at their residence at Titinge. The matter in regards to the first issue had been reported and police had mediated between the parties and both agreed to pay for the damages.
“Since that time nothing had been done and yesterday (27 December) the suspects got drunk and attacked the victim between 5 am and 8 am.”
Investigations into the matter is continuing and the suspects will appear in the Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on 17 February 2020.
