RSIPF investigates two traffic accidents in Malaita Province
Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki are investigating two traffic accidents, which happened at two different locations in Malaita Province on 10 January 2020.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Superintendent Solomon Sisimia says, “The first accident happened at Mage Village Central Kwara’ae and the other along the Kwainamoro main road via Aligegeo Secondary School. Both accidents happened between 1 and 2pm in the afternoon.”
PPC Sisimia explains: “The first accident involved a RAV4 vehicle colliding with a three ton truck. The second accident involved another RAV4 vehicle and a motor cycle.”
“During the first accident at Mage Village the pickup truck, which was travelling in the southerly direction, suddenly swung to the right lane and collided with the RAV4 which was travelling in the northerly direction. And in the second accident, the RAV4 travelling in the southerly direction collided with a motor cycle travelling in the northerly direction. There were no serious injuries during the two incidents."
PPC Sisimia says, “With the accident at Kwainamoro it is alleged that due to a lot of pot holes along the road the motor cycle swung to the right lane and hit the RAV4.”
"Traffic officers at Auki mediated between the separate parties in the two accidents as investigations continue."
PPC Sisimia calls on all drivers and road users in Malaita Province to be very careful when using the roads taking extra precautionary measures when the roads are not in a good condition.
