Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the Kirakira Police Station have arrested and charged a-30-year-old man for the selling of liquor without a license at Parego Village in East Makira on 21 January 2020.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Makira-Ulawa Province, Superintendent Peter Sitai says, “Police managed to confiscate 59 cartons of beer with thousands of dollars in hard cash. The cash and cartons of beer will remain under police custody as exhibits until the Court decides on what to do.”

The suspect will appear in the Kirakira Principal Magistrates’ Court on 25 February 2020.

“I would like to remind the public in the Makira-Ulawa Province (MUP) that selling liquor without a valid license is an offence under the Liquor Act. Anyone selling liquor must obtain a licence from the MUP Liquor Licensing Board which the Magistrate chairs,” PPC Sitai explains.

PPC Sitai says, “I thank the public for their support in making possible the work of the police and wish to see the same spirit of cooperation maintained as this is the only way we can sustain law and order in the community in today’s changing world.”

PPC Sitai also thanked the RSIPF officers at the Kirakira Police Station for all the hard work that led to the arrest and charging of the suspect.
