The dead body of a male person has been discovered at the mouth of the Lungga River east of Honiara this morning (4 February 2020).

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Ishmael Vunagi says, “At about 8:30 am this morning police attended the report of a dead body that was found at the Lungga river mouth.”

“The already decomposed body is that of a male person. Police have taken the body to the morgue at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara for a post-mortem.”

Chief Superintendent Vunagi says, “I appeal to any member of the public whose relative may have gone missing in the past days or weeks to come forward to identify the body before police can process the release of the dead body to members of his family.”
The dead body is described as not very tall and wearing a pair of blue trousers.

“The matter is now under police investigation and RSIPF is calling on the members of the public to assist with information that may help identify the dead body. You can call officers at the Henderson Police Station on phone 36200 or 36201 or the police emergency toll free number 999,” says PPC Vunagi.
