Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Centre in Honiara have arrested a male Chinese national following a fatal accident on 21 March 2020 in the Ranadi area of East Honiara.

The Chinese national is an employee of the AJ Hardware Company Limited.

Director of National Traffic Centre Superintendent Fredrick Satu says, “It is alleged that the deceased jumped onto the right side trailer of the 10-ton white crane truck when he was rushing to cross the other side of the road as he was believed to be chased by some dogs. The victim was rushed to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) and but was pronounced dead upon arrival.”

Superintendent Satu adds: “A case has been formally established and registered as further investigation continues into the matter before the casefile is forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution. The suspect has been bailed and ordered to return to the National Traffic Centre on 6 April 2020.”

“My condolences to the immediate family and relatives of the deceased after the tragic loss of one of their members.”

“I call on the relatives of the deceased not to take the law into their own hands but let police deal with this matter,” says Superintendent Satu.
