RSIPF turns away yacht from Malaita Outer Islands
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in the Malaita Outer Islands (MOI) have turned back a yacht believed to be from Malaysia from entering Solomon Islands territory.
Acting Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “The yacht with a Malaysian on board was chased back from the Solomon Sea by officers in the MOI after receiving reports from communities on Lord Howe who feared those on board the yacht might be affected with Covid-19.”
Acting Commissioner Mangau adds: “RSIPF is working closely with the government agencies who are leading the fight against the Covid-19 particularly the Ministry of Health, on ways to address or attend to reports from communities about vessels entering Solomon Islands border as we fight against the Covid-19.”
“I call on our good people in the Malaita outer Islands to stay calm and to report any sighting of any vessel entering the Solomon Sea. The RSIPF is working closely with the Government agencies to make sure all citizens of this country are safe from the Covid-19," says Acting Commissioner Mangau
