The Central Provincial Government is committed to working closely with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in terms of infrastructure, the Crime Prevention Strategy and other programs.

The Central Province Premier, Hon. Stanley Manetiva made the commitment during the visit of the RSIPF Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Juanita Matanga to the provincial capital Tulagi on 15 May 2020.

“As premier of Central Province my government is committed to working closely with the RSIPF in terms of infrastructure, community crime prevention strategy and other programs to ensure our provincial ordinances are enforced,” says Premier Manetiva.
“My provincial government views the Crime Prevention Strategy as an operational program to assist the police by using the people in the community to prevent crime from occurring. The province acknowledges the positive impact this Strategy has made in the communities in the province.”

Premier Manetiva reveals: “In terms of infrastructure, the provincial land allocated and granted for Police headquarters and housing quarters in the Russel Islands will be on Pavuvu Island as the province plans to have a second township there.”

“The province also has a strategic plan for the increase of police officers at Tulagi and in the Russel Islands in the future as the current government is embarking on an economic development reform program hence the security of investors, properties and the general public is important.”

The Central Provincial Government also thank the Supervising Provincial Police Commander Central Province for doing a lot of good work and establishing good relations with communities in the Province.

RSIPF Deputy Commissioner, Operation Juanita Matanga during the meeting with Premier Manetiva and the Provincial Secretary, Central Province, (Chris Siale) thanked the Central Provincial Government for inviting her to the provincial headquarters and more especially in working together with the RSIPF at Tulagi.

“Although you have encountered many challenges within your provincial government especially as the country continues to prevent any outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Solomon Islands, I would like to sincerely acknowledge your province under your capable leadership for working together with the police, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the people in Central Province,” DC Matanga told the Central Provincial Premier.
