The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends the good citizens of Solomon Islands for a safe and peaceful 42nd Independence Anniversary celebration on Tuesday 7 July 2020.

Deputy Commissioner Ian Vaevaso says, “Despite the cancellation of the official celebrations in Honiara a lot of people, organisations and communities went ahead to mark the historical occasion with their own activities.”

Deputy Commission Vaevaso adds: “From the reports received from both Honiara City and the Provincial centres, there were no major incidences and the celebrations went on peacefully. I would like to commend our people for such great behaviour especially marking this very important occasion.”

“And I would like to thank the members of the public for continuing to adhere to the state of public emergency rules and regulations that have been placed by the Government in the light of the fight to prevent our country from getting the coronavirus (COVID-19).”

“I want to appeal to the good people of this country to keep adhering to the rules and regulations under the State of Public Emergency and to work together with the Government agencies dealing with the current situation,” says Deputy Commissioner Vaevaso
