RSIPF investigates Homicide incident in Honiara
Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at the Honiara City Central Police Station are investigating an alleged homicide incident that resulted in death of a 40-year-old man at the upper cliff next to the Botanical Garden in west Honiara on 25 July 2020.
The body was discovered at about 7 am on the morning of 25 July 2020.
Initial reports says the deceased and his girlfriend went up the cliff heading to the Botanical Garden prior to the incident. It is alleged that while the deceased and his girlfriend were at the top of the cliff, two men appeared and attacked the deceased.
Provincial Police Commander, Honiara City Chief Superintendent Stanley Riolo says, “After receiving the report, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Forensics Department attended the scene and conducted an enquiry into the matter. The deceased was transported to the National Referral Hospital but was pronounced death upon arrival.”

PPC Riolo says, “Four suspects have been taken to the Honiara City Central Police Station for questioning in relation to the matter but are yet to be formally arrested as the investigation continues.”
“I appeal to the general public who may have been around the Botanical Garden early Saturday morning to come forward to police if you have any information relating to the incident to assist investigators to bring who is responsible to face justice,” says PPC Chief Superintendent Riolo.
