Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki in Malaita Province are investigating the death of an adult male person at Larowasi logging camp in East Are’are on 29 July 2020

An initial report says the deceased and two other employees of the Jubilant Logging Company went diving outside the Larowasi log pond between 8pm and 9pm on 27 July 2020. At about 12 midnight two of the employees returned home without the deceased.

Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita province Superintendent William Foufaka says, “A search was conducted and the body was found floating 200 meters from the Larowasi log pond on 29 July 2020.”

“The body was transported to Honoa clinic and police are still awaiting for a medical report from the nurse in charge at the Clinic. Immediate relatives of the deceased accepted the cause of death so no post mortem was carried out on the body.”

“My condolence to the families and relatives of the deceased for the loss of their loved one,” says Supervising PPC Superintendent Foufaka.

The body of the deceased was transported to Manu village in East Fataleka for burial by his relatives.

“Police will continue with investigation into the incident and call on members of the communities in and around the Larowasi logging camp to come forward to police if you have any information related to the incident, “says PPC Foufaka
